Last of all, install the Virtual Desktop streamer app for PC, which is available here. You’ll need a copy of Virtual Desktop for Quest from the Oculus Store. Make sure your Quest is connected to your 5Ghz network and not the 2.5Ghz one - again, stability is key. Speaking of routers, in general terms you’ll need a ‘reliable’ Wi-Fi router with a 5Ghz network. Also make sure your computer is connected via ethernet to your router and not wirelessly - the stability and higher speed is essential. You’ll also still need the Oculus PC app installed, along with Steam and SteamVR if you want to play non-Oculus content. You will still need a VR-ready PC, just like Oculus Link. However, the reliability of streaming PC VR content to your Quest via Virtual Desktop can be different for everyone, as it’s heavily dependent on the strength of your internal network and the hardware running it. The feature works similarly to Oculus Link, but is a fully wireless solution. This is no longer the case - all you need is the Oculus Store version of Virtual Desktop.
Up until February 2021, users had to sideload an alternative version of the app to enable PC VR streaming in Virtual Desktop.
The app is available for purchase on the Oculus Store for Quest. It requires the Virtual Desktop app on your headset, along with a companion streamer app installed on your computer. Virtual Desktop allows you to bring your computer’s display into VR, providing you with a streamed version of your desktop that you can interact with and control from within VR. However, Virtual Desktop provides another way to play PC VR content on your Quest - it’s a wireless and unofficial solution, with the trade-off that reliability can vary between users, depending on their setup.

You can read our guide for how to use and set up Oculus Link here. I'm still able to play games, and the black screen is my only symptom.Want to wirelessly stream PC VR content to your Oculus Quest headset using Virtual Desktop? Here’s how.įacebook’s official solution for playing PC VR content on Oculus Quest is Oculus Link - a wired feature that streams games across a USB-C cable connected to a VR-ready PC. I run VR on a MSI GL75 Leopard 10SFK-029. This issue is not present on my Desktop computer.

The new update just glitched out the integrated Virtual Desktop in the Oculus PC application. OLD 4/25/21: I've been working with Oculus Support, but so far no amount of troubleshooting has solved the issue. But I doubt that's issue because my Rift S also has the problem. I also completely uninstalled and re-installed and am still having the issue.

So far, I've restarted, repaired install, and installed latest graphics card drivers but have had no success. I have a Rift S and a Quest 2 and both have the issue. Though, I can still control the cursor with my controller. Oculus app isn't showing desktop, just black screen. I made a video tutorial for the solution for anyone confused. Changing the preferred processor in Nvidia Control panel for OVRServer_圆4.exe does NOT solve the issue, although I thought it would effectively accomplish the same thing. The dashboard/OVRServer doesn't utilize the GPU while in use. My games still run fine using this method, since they still use the GPU. At least, that's what's selected under "Power Saving" for my PC.
It seems this method forces Intel(R) UHD Graphics to render for OVRServer_圆4.exe. UPDATE: Solution found by Hansaplastique! THANK YOU!
